Dune Shack
Boutique Stay · White Beach · Tasmania
A considered 1970s seaside oasis, steps from the shore
The Space
Small on footprint. Big on feeling.
Tucked behind the dunes at White Beach, Tasmania, this is a shack for slowing right down.
Walk barefoot from the garden to the sand in seconds, spend the evening by the fire pit, and let the sauna do its work after a cold swim.
Simple, well kept and full of character, Dune Shack holds onto its laid-back charm while quietly taking care of everything else.
The Shack
Built in 1970, the Shack's interiors reflect this colourful and playful era. Mustard, warm wood and art adorn the shack creating a comfortable space in which to unwind.
A yellow door that catches the light in the afternoon. An orange velvet couch that you'll spend more time on than you planned.
✦ 2 bedrooms · sleeps 4
✦ Full kitchen · fast wifi
✦ Pet friendly on request
The beach
White Beach is the bay the shack sits on. A set of timber steps leads through the dunes straight from the yard to the sand — most people walk it barefoot.
The water is cold and very clear. On a good day it turns turquoise. On a still morning, it's calm as a lake.
✦ Private beach access right from the garden
✦ ~90 steps from Shack to sand
The sauna
Your own custom built hot stone sauna, in the yard. It takes about 30 minutes to heat up. A shower is right outside the sauna for rinsing off.
It's the thing people talk about most when they leave.
The kind of thing you didn't know you needed until you're in it

In the Wild
Room to roam
A large, private yard full of native plants leads straight down to the beach. Lie in the hammock and watch sea eagles soar overhead. The bay is visited by seals, dolphins and eagle rays, and in winter, whales bask just off the shore.
Outdoor kitchen, fire pit and two outdoor showers, one by the sauna and one on the deck.
