Privacy Policy
Last updated: Oct 2026
Dune Shack is a small, owner-operated holiday rental at White Beach, Tasmania, run by Alice and Tim Salt ("we", "us", "our"). We respect your privacy and only collect the information we need to look after your booking and stay.
This policy explains what we collect through duneshacktas.com, how we use it, and your choices. It is written with the Australian Privacy Principles in mind.
What we collect
We collect personal information when you book, enquire or sign up to hear from us. This may include:
Booking details: your name, email, phone number, address, number of guests, pets, travel dates and any notes you send us
Payment details: handled securely by our payment provider (see below). We never see or store your full card number.
Enquiries: whatever you include when you use our contact form or email us
Email signup: your email address
Website use: basic, non-identifying information such as your browser, device and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics
You can browse the site without giving us any personal information.
How we use it
We use your information to:
Confirm and manage your booking, take payments and process any refunds
Send booking confirmations, check-in details, reminders and a review request after your stay
Reply to your enquiries
Send occasional updates and offers, if you've signed up
Keep the website working well and understand how it's used
Meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Services we use
We use a few trusted services to run bookings and the website. They only receive what they need to do their job:
Bookingmood: our booking system, which handles reservations, the guest dashboard, and booking emails and SMS
Stripe: processes card payments securely on our behalf
Airbnb: we sync calendar availability with our Airbnb listing so dates stay accurate. Only availability is shared, not your personal details.
Squarespace: hosts our website, contact form and email list
Google Analytics: helps us understand how visitors find and use the site
Some of these providers may store data on servers outside Australia. Each has its own privacy policy, and we choose providers with strong security practices.
We may also share information if required by law.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies, small files stored in your browser, to keep the site working and to give us anonymous statistics such as visitor numbers and popular pages. The booking system may also use cookies to remember your selections.
We use Google Analytics to see things like how many people visit, which pages they view and how they found us. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information, which is processed by Google and may be stored outside Australia. It doesn't tell us who you are. You can learn more at policies.google.com/privacy, or opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site, including booking, may not work properly without them.
Our email list
If you sign up, we'll only email you now and then with availability updates or offers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can ask us to remove you at any time.
Booking-related emails, such as confirmations and check-in details, are part of your stay and aren't marketing.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Payment details are handled by Stripe and never stored by us.
We keep booking records for as long as we need them for your stay and to meet tax and legal requirements, generally up to seven years. After that, we delete or de-identify them.
Your choices and contacting us
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Just get in touch and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
